The tall ship Lady Washington is one the best places to enjoy a history lesson or a recreational outing with friends and family. But did you know that our tall ship regularly hosts musicians too? Grays Harbor Historical Seaport loves collaborating with performers of all kinds to offer concerts at sea. In the past year we’ve hosted shanty singers, violinists, accordionists, and even a four piece rock band dressed as squids!
This April in Oakland, Historical Seaport will be welcoming back a previous ensemble for an encore performance on Lady Washington. The award-winning jazz band of Hayward High School will come aboard to perform standards and improvised numbers to set a mood as the tall ship carries guests in the San Francisco Bay. Hayward’s band last came aboard for our popular Fleet Week Blue Angels sail where they received rave reviews from guests.
This three hour sail is great for music lovers and tall ship fans alike. Departing from Jack London Sq., the Hayward quartet will kick off the tunes as we motor through the Alameda channel. Then we’ll open up on the Bay where guest will enjoy the standard Grays Harbor Historical Seaport sailing they know and love, complete with breath taking views of the city skyline and a chance to haul lines with the crew. After photo op’s, sunny sailing, and maybe a few shanties, it’s back to the dock. The band will jump in to another set of songs as we approach our landing point.
Oakland is already one of our most popular ports, so interested guests won’t want to delay in buying tickets to this special event! For questions or to purchase ticket, you can reach us at
