This June, Grays Harbor Historical Seaport is putting out the call for qualified Captains to serve as Master of brig Lady Washington as part of our core team. Our organization is in a time of transition, as we prepare to expand our educational programs, especially maritime workforce development.
We are in need of licensed 100 Ton Masters (Inland or Near Coastal) with an auxiliary sail endorsement and a passion for education. As Master, you would sign on for 1 to 3 months per year, with scheduled vacation and breaks offered by our group of Relief Captains. Health insurance and retirement plans are available, and we are implementing a six day work schedule to provide a planned day off each week, including the Master.
Aboard you will change lives, teach your skills to a new generation, and travel some of the most beautiful waters of the Pacific. Summers are spent in the Salish Sea, with a Columbia River tour slated for 2018, with winters in the Bay Area and southern California. Pay for Captains DOE, approximately $3,500 to $4,000 a month plus benefits. We are seeking candidates to grow with our organization.
Have your ticket, but need training? We have a number of highly experienced Captains willing to train the right person.
The most important qualification is sharing our organizational values- arriving with a passion for education, drive to train mariners and run a tight ship, and set a positive example for the young people in your charge. In 2018, GHHS is launching a new workforce development program, The Seafarer Collective, which will set the standard for hawsepiper job training on the west coast. We are seeking Captains who want to make TSC a resounding success, through their knowledge, drive, and passion for sailing.
Are you able to be a key factor in transforming the west coast’s beloved sail training program?
