Both ships are taking reservations today from teachers and home-school groups for Voyage of Explorers, the ships’ hands-on education program for 4th-7th graders. Students work cooperatively to set and trim the sails, then break into watch groups that rotate through three learning stations, each one focused on a different aspect of maritime history. Public schools designated Title I by the US Dept. of Education may be eligible for special scholarships. To learn more, visit the Students and School Groups page of our website, or call 800-200-5239.

In each port, the ships will offer walk-on tours to visitors and fun two-hour and three-hour excursions featuring a chance to help raise a sail, learn a sea shanty, or take the helm of a real tall ship, conditions permitting. For scheduling and ticket availability, view the Sailing Schedule and individual port listings.

Launched in 1989 as part of Washington State’s centennial, the wooden-hulled Lady Washington has appeared in several motion pictures and TV shows, including Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, and Once Upon A Time. Constructed of steel, Hawaiian Chieftain was launched in 1988 in Lahaina, Hawaii.
