Seaport Landing: A New Home for Our Tall Ships Print

Lady Washington & Hawaiian Chieftain

Seaport LandingWe’ve found the perfect new home for our ships, and it’s time to move forward. Seaport Landing is on 320 feet—about 2.5 acres—of prime riverfront in South Aberdeen. It's visible from US Highway 12, and it's next to US Highway 101. It’s easy to find, and it’s on a historic plot of land. The location is excellent for an educational, recreational and ship maintenance facility for Grays Harbor and the region. All we need now is you and the Historical Seaport to collaborate and make it happen.

donate_now_redThe Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority, which is marking its 25th year of operations in 2011-2012, invites supporters to help create a new home port and visitor destination in Aberdeen with a $25 donation.

A New Destination Facility
Seaport Landing will be a multi-use visitor destination and home port for our tall ships Lady Washington, the Official Ship of the State of Washington, and her companion ship, Hawaiian Chieftain. Seaport Landing will transform a degraded, industrial shoreline on the Chehalis River into a vibrant attraction and anchor point for Aberdeen revitalization efforts. Designed to meet “green” building standards, the facility will also provide easy water access to the Grays Harbor National Wildlife Refuge, the Chehalis Basin Surge Plain Natural Area Preserve, and 36 miles of navigable waterways, all within 6.5 miles of the site.
