Proud Member of Tall Ships America

Your Historical Seaport Membership Can Change a Life! Print

Liz PalmerYour membership changes lives. Liz Palmer, a volunteer aboard the Lady Washington, was inspired to join the crew and serve young people like herself who visit the ship. The Historical Seaport's community of members helped make her dream possible. You can join at one of several levels that fit your budget and preferences. We recommend you join online, which keeps our costs low, although we welcome your check. We offer free thank-you gifts. And all or part of your membership, depending on level, is tax-deductible. Please join now!

Elizabeth Palmer's story
Like many young teens, Liz Palmer was searching for something to fire her imagination. On a visit to her grandmother’s home in Westport, Wash., she saw Lady Washington at the dock. Almost immediately, the high school student from Moses Lake, Wash., wanted to sign up as a shipboard volunteer.

Shortly after her sixteenth birthday in 2007, she boarded Lady Washington, and after several tours, she is still excited about teaching school children and the public about "her" ship and its history. Liz recently graduated from high school, receiving a prestigious President's Volunteer Service Award. Liz is now persuing a career in the maritime industry.

Your annual tax-deductible membership helps Liz and other young people realize their dreams of serving aboard Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain. Your contribution directly supports our educational mission. Your money pays the bills: fuel for getting in and out port, hearty meals for hard-working seafarers, parts for repairs, and everything else we need to keep our ships operating. Only the wind is free! And your membership shows community support. Please become a Member today!

All or part of your membership, depending on level, is tax-deductible. Call us at 800-200-5239 for more details. You may wish to consult your tax professional.
